Cheap brakes that work
These brakes are cheap, they look and feel cheap, but they do exactly what brakes are meant to do. As a replacement on an old training bike these are ideal. For a good bike, spend more and get what you pay for.

Good for the money
Bought these to replace a nasty cheap-as-you-can-get set of centre pull cantilevers on a budget mountain bike. I didn't want to spend too much but needed something that would do the job, and these seem to fit the bill perfectly.

They are easy to install (I had more trouble taking the old ones off...) and despite the reputation of this kind of brake they were easy enough to balance using the adjustment screws on each side. They are an all-metal construction so are rugged enough and the stopping power is excellent. The levers are nothing fancy but are again solid enough.

Adjusting the position of the brake pads is slightly fiddly as there is only a single bolt securing them in place, so if you only need to tweak one variable (such as tilt) you need to ensure the others don't slip out of place accidentally. This is most problematic when tightening the bolt up as the pad tends to turn in the direction you are tightening. Still it isn't a major issue.
