I bought my Compy secondhand (it had only been used about 15 times and so was immaculate and little worn). I had ridden one of these before and so knew of its great performance.

There are many things to love about this machine. It is a great performer with and without power (you only notice the extra weight un-powered when going uphill). I have had 28 miles of pedal assisted power on the flat and 24 miles in the Chilterns up and down our steepish hills.

I have always thought that hub motors were just wrong (I have owned some). The lack of gearing is a concern as although they will take up the steepest hills they are at maximum torque and that means battery drainage. With crank motors the motor always hums away in the right gear providing a geared max speed up hill with some pedal assistance and you never feel it is struggling. You can very easily control the amount of input you contribute as you can 'feel' through the pedals in any gear and you can see on the...
