Warm and comfy in the cold
My first impression of these were that they were a bit loose, trousers would certainly fit the description better than tights. In saying that, they are extremely comfortable to wear and the extra height in the waist means they sit perfectly when out on my bike no matter what riding position I'm in. I would definitely advise going at least one size smaller than usual as they are very generous in sizing. I hadn't done much cycling in the cold weather, but now I won't hesitate to get out on the bike whatver the weather. I haven't tried them in the rain yet, but they certainly keep the cold at bay.

Warm and baggy
Got these in a size 14, which is my normal trouser size. Fleecy lining is lovely and they def have better waterproofing than my rain jacket. I do find them a bit big and baggy though - especially round the waist and they ride down as you cycle leaving a bit of a drafty gap unless you've got a longer jersey on. (will have to sew some elastic in the waist) Also mine didn't have the reflective side stripe in the pictures. But apart from that they're fine and do the job. I don't mind the less-than-tight legs as they are more flattering. The ankle zips are also very useful.
